CSA - Community Supported Agriculture

Welcome to the Patchwork Gardens Summer Market CSA 2017

Thank you everyone for your commitment to local organic food!

Patchwork Gardens is starting its 12th year offering a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture).  CSA members pay in the spring and receive a share of certified organic veggies from our farm throughout the season.  The upfront payment helps us financially early in the season when our costs are high (labour, seeds, infrastructure, etc.) but our sales are low.

We offer a Market style CSA where members choose what they would like from our market stall rather than us choosing for them.  We have found that this CSA model works for everyone.

What we grow:

We grow a wide range of certified organic, nutrient dense vegetables.  Here is a sample of what we grow: salad greens, beets, carrots, radishes, turnips, lettuce, arugula, kale (small and large), tomatoes, peppers, cucumber, squash, onions, scallions, garlic, celeriac, bok choy, grapes, apples, beans, zucchini, cabbage, potatoes and more!

How it works:

You, the CSA member, pay upfront (payment due April 1st) and then will get to choose from our market stall how to spend your credit. Think of it like a regular CSA but with more choice and flexibility!  You also don’t need to let us know if you’re away or will miss a week. We keep track of your credit and balance on a spreadsheet on an iPad, which we have at the market with us. As well as getting vegetables, you can use your credit toward potted vegetable plants in the spring as well as bulk vegetables when available (such as sauce tomatoes, carrots, onions, garlic and beets). I will let members know via email when we have such things available.

Where and when:

We are at the Kingston Public Market (the one behind city hall) every Saturday between mid-May and the end of October. We guarantee that we will be there between 8:30am and 1:00pm (usually later in the day but we may leave by 1:00 if the weather is terrible).

We will not be attending the market on Thursdays this year.

*This CSA model works best for picking up at the market. If you want to pick up at the farm, please contact me here: meganjoslin (at) gmail.com (it will be the same as last year).

The minimum share size is $300. You may buy any size over $300. Keep in mind that it needs to be used by the end of October. For perspective on the share size, if you buy a $300 share, you will want to spend an average of $15/week for 20 weeks. If you buy a $500 share, you will want to spend an average of $25/week for 20 weeks. We usually go to the market for 24 or 25 weeks. Please note: Since your credit expires at the end of October, you may NOT carry it over to our winter CSA, or the following year. If you use up all of your credit and would like to add on more, you may do so at anytime.

Payment is due April 1st by mailing a cheque (cheques may be post dated for April 1st) or sending an e-transfer to meganjoslin(at)gmail.com (please make the answer to the security question something I will get easily, thanks). Cheques and e-transfers can be made out to Patchwork Gardens.

Address: 4649 Milburn Rd, Battersea ON, K0H 1H0.
